K&B
40 & Torpedo 40 Design Family
|

This
engine evolved from the Torpedo .29, .35 & .40.
It was originally designed as a front and rear intake.
The
R/C engine came with many different carburetors,
starting with latest K&B w/remote and fins, K&B w/needle
and fins,
Large square with K/B engraved on front, Irvine,
Perry, small die cast body, small machined machined.

This is the ABC version of the 4011. It came with a
tuned muffler and uses remote needle. Remote needle
not shown in picture.

This is almost identical to the 4011 except it uses
a very small front bearing. All the parts in the front
housing are different from the 4011.
Prop
driver is held on by a set screw and roll pin, the prop
shaft then screws into the prop driver.

oldest first.

The 8011 used many
different carburetors. Originally as the Torpedo it had an
aluminum carburetor with a coupled exhaust baffle. Neck diameter
is either .437" or .530"
Later it used an
Irvine Carb. This says Irvine on the front and was coupled
to an exhaust baffle.

Next was a small
body Perry carb (main needle had a spring behind it), also
coupled to an exhaust baffle. Used up to approx 1978
|
|

4011...
Large body Perry
with an O-ring sealed needle. Some linked to an exhaust baffle.
