The first 65 sportster was supplied with the needle on the carburetor and then changed to a remote needle.

A bushing was added to the crankcase
on the later ones. These parts interchange.

The .65 had 16 head fins and diameter of 1.940"

Early models had deep fins on the head but it proved to be too much cooling so the fins were machined down then the mold was changed to reduce the fin depth.
