"Dave Dawson holds his winning Texas Quickie Rat entry surrounded by the other entrants and contest officials at the recent Bill Nusz Memorial Race held on April 29th at Whittier Narrows, California. The plane, designed and built by Dave, is powered by a modified K&B .40 (4011 series) and uses a mandatory .292 inch "restricter" venturi. The airspeed was just over 105 mph during the 140 lap race. A combination of good airspeed and quick one-flip hot restarts earned Dave the win. The Texas Quickie Rat racing class is one of the more popular events at the monthly Southern California Air Racers contests. For more information on Quickie racing go to http://www.nclra.org/Rules/TQR.html and http://www.microair.info/SCAR."
